This case study highlights how Zoroastro de Lima Lucena used Animaker to bring his original animated film to life entirely on his own. Working with a home computer, Zoroastro spent five years creating his film, which went on to win two film festival awards and receive selections from eight other festivals.

Meet Zoroastro de Lima Lucena, an independent filmmaker who created an animated film based on his own original story and screenplay. Working independently, he took on every part of the filmmaking process himself, using his home computer to bring his vision to life.

Creating an animated film as a solo filmmaker was a long journey. Now, let's hear his story about how he overcame all the challenges on his animated movie-making journey.

The Challenge

Creating an animated film independently was a major challenge.

I wanted to produce a film based on my own original story and screenplay, but I was working alone and using only a home computer.

The project became a long-term commitment, taking five years to complete. I needed a practical way to create the animation and bring my story to life independently.

Why Animation?

Animation gave me the creative freedom to turn my original story and screenplay into a film.

I chose Animaker because it was versatile and already had characters ready to use.

These features enabled me to create the film independently while developing my story as I imagined it.

Discovering Animaker

I discovered Animaker online while looking for a way to create my animated film.

What stood out to me was that Animaker was intuitive and effective.

The platform's versatility and pre-built characters gave me the tools I needed to work on my film independently.

For me, having access to these tools made it possible to take my original idea and develop it into a completed animated film.

Bringing My Story to Life

My film, Jesus Against the Legion of Evil, was based on my own original story and screenplay.

The entire film was produced by me using a home computer. I did not use artificial intelligence to generate the scenes.

The production was a five-year journey, from developing the story and screenplay to completing the final film.

Today, the finished film has been presented at film festivals and has won two film festival awards.

The Results

After five years of work, seeing the film receive recognition at film festivals was an important milestone in my filmmaking journey. The film was selected for eight film festivals and won two film festival awards.

It won the Festival Pulse of Animation Award on May 14, 2026, followed by the Bangkok Film Awards on June 19, 2026.

The film was also selected for film festivals and events in the United Kingdom, New York, Los Angeles, and Hollywood.

For a film created entirely by one person using a home computer, receiving this recognition was a rewarding result of the journey.

What I Love About Animaker

What I like most about Animaker is its versatility and ease of use.

The platform is intuitive and effective, while its ready-made characters make it easier to develop animated stories.

As an independent filmmaker working on my own, having practical tools that allow me to create and develop my ideas independently has been valuable throughout the filmmaking process.

Looking Ahead

Creating an animated film independently was a five-year journey, but seeing the finished film receive recognition at film festivals made the experience worthwhile.

With Animaker, I was able to take my original story and screenplay and turn it into a completed animated film using my own computer.
