Windows Movie Maker is a part of the Windows Essentials Suite 2012 and Microsoft ended the support for this suite way back in 2010. However, you can download the offline installer using this download link we’ve retrieved from Microsoft’s official site using Wayback Machine. This is the copy of the link that Microsoft had provided to download the installer for the Essentials Suite back when it still supported it.
Double-click the installer file to begin the installation process. Now in the opening window, select Choose the programs you want to install.
In the next window, tick the Photo Gallery and Movie Maker checkbox. You likely won’t need the other tools in the suite, so you can untick the other checkboxes. Once you’ve decided on the tools you’d need, go ahead and click on the Install button at the bottom of the installation wizard window.
Once Windows Movie Maker is installed, open it. Then import the video you want to rotate. The easiest way to import a video is to simply drag and drop it onto the app window.

Then, create a new project. To start a blank video project, you can either click on the big blue box with a plus icon that says New video project, or click on the New video button in the top right corner of the app window and select New video project from the dropdown menu.

Once the video’s been imported, click on the Place in the storyboard button in the top right corner to add the video to the storyboard.

How to Rotate a Video using the iMovie App on iPhone and iPad
You can use the iMovie app to rotate your videos on your iPhone. If you don’t have the iMovie app on your iPhone, you can download and install iMovie for iOS.
Once you’ve installed iMovie on your iPhone or iPad, follow these steps:
Open the iMovie app and tap on the Create Project button.
Now from the New Project popup window, select Movie.
Then tap on the Create Movie text button at the bottom of the app window.
Next, to select the video you want to rotate, tap on the area that says Tap + to add videos, photos, or audio.
Now under the VIDEOS & PHOTOS category, tap Video.
Then tap All, and finally tap on the video you want to rotate.
Now tap the plus symbol as shown in the image below.
Now use your thumb and index fingers to tap and twist the video to the right or left so you rotate the video clockwise or counterclockwise. When you do this, a white circular arrow will appear indicating the direction in which you’re rotating the video.

Note that you can only save your video in the 16:9 aspect ratio (or horizontal dimensions) using iMovie. There isn’t a way to save your video in the vertical dimensions (or 9:16 aspect ratio). Once you rotate your landscape video to be vertical in iMovie, two black bars will appear on either side of the video. And you’re going to have to save the video with those black bars.Optionally, you can also flip your video using iMovie. simply clicking Rotate the clip clockwise button twice will flip the video vertically. To flip the video horizontally, however, you’re going to have to apply a filter. First, click on the Clip filter and audio effects button, then click on the Clip Filter field, and finally, pick the Flipped filter to flip your video horizontally.

Step 1: Sign Up/Login and Pick the Dimensions
Sign in to your account or create a free one. Once you’re in the dashboard, choose the dimensions for your video. Are you looking to turn a vertical video horizontal? Then pick Horizontal from the Create a video section in your dashboard. Are you looking to turn a horizontal video vertical? Then pick Vertical from the same section.
Step 2: Upload the Video and Rotate It
Then, upload your video. Animaker lets you upload videos up to 20 GB in size. Now in the main navigation bar, click on the Upload tab and then click on the Upload button at the bottom of the tab window.
Now click on the uploaded video to set it onto the canvas.
Click on the Rotate icon in the top right corner of the canvas. Each time you click on it, your video will be rotated in the anti-clockwise direction. To rotate your video 90 degrees, click on the Rotate button three times. The first click will rotate your video to an angle of 270 degrees, then the second click will rotate it to an angle of 180 degrees, and finally, the third click will rotate it to an angle of 90 degrees.
Setting the video onto the canvas will make it fill the entire space of the canvas. You can change how it fits the chosen dimensions with our video resizing tool. Simply adjust and make it fit the canvas the way you want by clicking on the Resize button.
You can also flip (or mirror) videos using our video flipping functionality. Click on the Flip icon in the top right corner of the canvas to flip your video horizontally and/or vertically.
Step 3: Preview and Download the Video
Finally, preview the video you just rotated by clicking on the play button beside the Publish button. Video has been rotated to your desired orientation? Go ahead and download the video by clicking on the Publish button and then selecting Download Video from the dropdown menu. Or simply share the video directly to various social media platforms from within the app.

Optionally, you can also flip the video if you want to. To flip the video, simply select the Flip Horizontal or Flip Vertical from the same dropdown menu to flip the video vertically or horizontally.
Once you’re done rotating the video to your desired angle, you can now save the video in this angle on your computer. To save the video, click on the File menu from the menu bar, then select Export As, and finally, pick the resolution you want to export the video in from the resulting dropdown. You can export the video in 480p or 720p.
Next, you can enter a name for your video using the export as input field and then choose where you want to save your video. Finally, click on the Save button to save your video.

How to Rotate and Save a Video in VLC on Windows and Mac
VLC is a free media player available for Windows and Mac. If you don’t already have it installed, you can download VLC for Windows. Once you have installed VLC, follow the instructions below to rotate your video using the VLC media player:
Open VLC and then open the video file you want to rotate. To open a video, go to Media > Open File.
Now from the main menu, select Tools > Effects and Filters.
In the Adjustments and Effects popup window, go to the Video Effects tab and then the Geometry tab.

Rotate Your Video Permanently
The settings you’d modified using the steps above will be applied to all the videos you play using VLC. To permanently rotate your video, follow the steps below:
From the main menu, select Tools > Preferences.
In the Simple Preferences window, under the Show settings section, click on the All radio button.
Now go to Stream output > Sout stream > Transcode. Then tick the Video transformation filter checkbox. Finally, click Save.
Next, from the main menu, select Media > Convert / Save.
Now click on the Add button to select and add the video you rotated.
Then click on the Convert / Save dropdown at the bottom and select Convert from the resulting dropdown menu.
In the Convert window, click on the Browse button under the destination section. Now pick a location to save your rotated video, enter a name for your video, and then click Save.
Finally, click Start to convert and save the video.
