  1. Double-click the installer file to begin the installation process. Now in the opening window, select Choose the programs you want to install.

  2. In the next window, tick the Photo Gallery and Movie Maker checkbox. You likely won’t need the other tools in the suite, so you can untick the other checkboxes. Once you’ve decided on the tools you’d need, go ahead and click on the Install button at the bottom of the installation wizard window.

  3. Once Windows Movie Maker is installed, open it. Then import the video you want to rotate. The easiest way to import a video is to simply drag and drop it onto the app window.

  4. Now it’s time to rotate the video you just imported. From the main menu, select Home and head to the Editing section. There, you’ll see the two rotate buttons, Rotate left and Rotate right.   3. In the next window, click on the blue button that says Add to import the video you want to rotate.

You can use the iMovie app to rotate your videos on your iPhone. If you don’t have the iMovie app on your iPhone, you can download and install iMovie for iOS

Once you’ve installed iMovie on your iPhone or iPad, follow these steps:

  1. Open the iMovie app and tap on the Create Project button.

  4. Next, to select the video you want to rotate, tap on the area that says Tap + to add videos, photos, or audio.

  7. Now tap the plus symbol as shown in the image below.

  8. Now use your thumb and index fingers to tap and twist the video to the right or left so you rotate the video clockwise or counterclockwise. When you do this, a white circular arrow will appear indicating the direction in which you’re rotating the video.

How to Rotate a Video in iMovie on Mac

iMovie is a freeware that comes preinstalled on Mac OS. Follow the steps below to rotate a video using iMovie desktop software on Mac:

  1. Open iMovie and click on the Create New button.

  3. Click on the Import Media button and select the video you want to rotate.

  4. Once the video’s been imported, click on it to select the video—the video will be highlighted in yellow to indicate that it’s been selected.

  5. Click on the Cropping button in the toolbar right above the video player. This will reveal the Rotate the clip clockwise and Rotate the clip counterclockwise buttons.

  6. Note that you can only save your video in the 16:9 aspect ratio (or horizontal dimensions) using iMovie. There isn’t a way to save your video in the vertical dimensions (or 9:16 aspect ratio). Once you rotate your landscape video to be vertical in iMovie, two black bars will appear on either side of the video. And you’re going to have to save the video with those black bars.Optionally, you can also flip your video using iMovie. simply clicking Rotate the clip clockwise button twice will flip the video vertically. To flip the video horizontally, however, you’re going to have to apply a filter. First, click on the Clip filter and audio effects button, then click on the Clip Filter field, and finally, pick the Flipped filter to flip your video horizontally.

  2. In the Simple Preferences window, under the Show settings section, click on the All radio button.

  3. Now go to Stream output > Sout stream > Transcode. Then tick the Video transformation filter checkbox. Finally, click Save.

  4. Next, from the main menu, select Media > Convert / Save.

  5. Now click on the Add button to select and add the video you rotated.

  6. Then click on the Convert / Save dropdown at the bottom and select Convert from the resulting dropdown menu.

  7. In the Convert window, click on the Browse button under the destination section. Now pick a location to save your rotated video, enter a name for your video, and then click Save.

Now click on the Rotate button in the top right corner of the canvas to start rotating your video. Animaker lets you rotate your video in the anti-clockwise direction. To rotate your video 90 degrees, simply click on the Rotate button three times. The first time you click, it’ll be rotated to an angle of 270 degrees, then it’ll be rotated to 180 degrees the second time, and finally to 90 degrees the third time.

Now your video will be filled to occupy the entire space of the canvas size you chose earlier. You can, however, customize the way it fits the canvas with our video resizing tool. Adjust and fit the video to the chosen dimensions by clicking on the Resize button.

Optionally, you can also flip or mirror your videos using our video flipping software. To flip your video horizontally and/or vertically, simply click on the Flip button in the top right corner of the canvas.

Step 3: Preview and Download the Video

Now that you’ve rotated the video, preview the video to see if it’s in the orientation that you want it to be in. To preview your rotated video, click on the play button beside the Publish button. You can now download the video if everything looks fine. To download the video, click on the Publish button and then select Download Video from the dropdown menu. You can also share the video directly to various social media platforms from right within the app.
